Following the news regarding Toyota, Peugeot Citroen will now be looking to recall the 107 and C1 as they are made in the same Czech plant used by Toyota.

The press have caused concern among drivers regarding the validity of their insurance. Please see below questions and answers compiled by our Insurance Team regarding fleet vehicle recalls.
Q – The press has said me and my passengers are not insured. Is this true?
A – This is NOT true. Insurers will deal with any accident/claim in exactly the same way as if there was no known fault with the vehicle, so will pay out for your own damage, 3rd Party damage and any Injuries (including any passengers), where the insurers would usually be liable. However, after all this is paid/settled, insurers will reserve the right to pursue a recovery of their losses from any party they consider at fault, even the manufacturer if they believe any “Latent Defect” on the vehicle may have contributed towards the accident to start with, recall or not. The policyholder/driver should be unaffected by this as it will purely be a technical dispute between the insurers and the manufactures.
Q – The press has said it is illegal to drive a car with a fault. Is this true?
A – This is NOT true. You can continue to drive the vehicle, however you have a duty to ensure it is safe and therefore if the vehicle exhibits any unexplained symptom, you should immediately contact your local dealer for advice (and act accordingly) and if you receive a recall notice, you should immediately make arrangement to have this preventative repair carried out. Only if you blatantly ignore these measures, could you be possibly liable.
